Ward II: Mary Ryherd

Councilmember Ryherd was appointed to the Mission City Council in January of 2022 and elected for a four-year term in November 2023. She also currently serves as Vice-Chair for the Community Development Committee and Council Liaison to the Mission Magazine Editorial Board. For over two years prior to joining the City Council, she served on the Parks, Recreation and Tree Commission and Broadmoor Park Stakeholder Steering Committee. Mary grew up in Leawood, KS and has lived in the Kansas City area her entire life.

Professionally, Mary works for Holmes Murphy as a Communication Consultant. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Kansas.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Lee, daughter Iris, dog Elaine, and cat Boca, is an avid baker and cook, and is regularly daydreaming about her next international trip. She enjoys hiking, fly fishing, photography, and practicing speaking Spanish.

Mary is elated to be representing the Ward II constituents, and is always ready to dive into the needs of her ward.
